July 5, 2003

At least 14 people have reportedly been killed in an apparent terrorist suicide attack by at a rock concert at a Moscow airfield Saturday (July 5),according to Sky News.

Two female bombers were said to have detonated the bombs when they were refused entry to the festival.

The first of three blasts was said to have come after police detained a suspicious-looking woman at the entrance to the festival on the outskirts of the Russian capital.

Citing unnamed law enforcement sources, Russia's Interfax news agency said the woman detonated a so-called "shaheed belt" packed with explosives after she was detained.

Tens of thousands of mostly-young people were attending the Krylya festival at the disused Tushino military airfield just eight miles north of central Moscow
